Bank of Dickson

Mobile Device Security

Bank of Dickson understands the many threats of identity theft and virtual robbery. That is why our mobile app has been designed to offer the same level of security currently in place through our eBanking site today.

Some of the specific security features our mobile app offers:

  • 128-bit encryption – this means that neither the wireless carrier nor anyone else can infringe on your wireless signal or be able to decipher any information sent to the device.
  • Secure login information is not stored on the device – if you lose your phone, you do not have to worry about deactivating your phone with the financial institution.
  • Biometrics- For eligible devices, this is a security option that uses your face id or fingerprint instead of your username and password.
  • Automatic inactivity logout – if the mobile banking application is inactive for five minutes, it will time out and require you to log back in.
  • Account lockout – after three failed login attempts, your profile will be locked, and you will be required to contact eBanking support for assistance.
  • Added security with MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) – if it is a new device, you will be required to verify your identity via phone call, text, or authenticator.
  • Account masking – account numbers in mobile banking are truncated to only display the last four digits.

A few things you can do to ensure your mobile devices’ security:

  • Update your apps and your device’s operating software.
  • Only connect to secure WIFI.
  • Beware of mobile phishing. Avoid opening links and attachments in emails and texts, especially from senders you don’t know.
  • Be wary of ads on social media, ads claiming your device is infected and messages wanting to verify a previous purchase.
  • Don’t store your passwords, personal or account information on a mobile device.
  • Consider a password manager.
  • Configure your device to require passcode or biometrics to unlock. If you are using a passcode, change it frequently!
  • Never leave your mobile device unattended.
  • Watch for shoulder surfers.
  • Make sure to log out of any eBanking sessions.
  • Research any app before installing and skip downloading apps with unnecessary permissions.
  • Make sure to wipe your mobile device before selling, trading, or donating it.
